He started out as an ivory carver then turned to pen and ink drawing on skin and paper. His works typically depict hunting scenes. He never went to art school, feeling that people who study art are usually influenced by their teachers. His work is included in many Alaska, The California Academy of Sciences, The Indian Arts and Crafts Board and is a part of the permanent collection of the Anchorage Museum at Rasmussen Center.
